Valerie Prosper Imparato is originally from Haiti, and she has lived all over the world. Imparato is an experienced artist, illustrator, and muralist whose aesthetic draws from the diverse cultural influences in her upbringing, with an emphasis on East-African and Caribbean art. Imparato’s work is bold, bright, and colorful. Much of Imparato's work seeks to highlight otherwise underrepresented and under celebrated communities- Black Women, immigrants, mothers. Imparato’s mural work can most recently be found at the Tufts University Africana Center and Harvard University’s Smith Center. The artist’s canvas and embroidery work have recently been on display at the Somerville Media Center and the Fitchburg Art Museum.
